Sophomore Class Council Candidates

President

Dennis Vink: My name is Dennis Vink and I am currently running for the position of the Sophomore Class President. I am running for this position because I wish to lead my class, make it successful, and have the best possible year! I would be a perfect candidate for this position because I have the prior experience needed to do the best and benefit my class greatly. My experience comes mostly from being the Freshman Class President and from being involved in Student Government by attending meetings in which I was able to learn and refine my speaking and communicating skills. As a freshman in Fair Lawn High School I was new and did not know much but throughout the year I was able to learn, and add to my portfolio. So I hope I can bring my skills next year and make sure we, the class of 2020, can have an amazing year!

I am an honor roll student who will not have trouble with grades so I will not be distracted from my duties as vice president. I am an immigrant from a country named Belarus in Eastern Europe which has a government that does not care about its people. However, I do care about the Sophomore Class! The goal of Sophomore Class Council will ultimately be to raise money for Junior and especially Senior year.We want to have a great prom and a great final class trip.I baked for bake sales for Freshman class, and I will continue to do so during Sophomore year. Remember, when it is time to vote, it is time for Tim!

I also represent my homeroom during SGA. Many people know me for my personality. I am a very funny and friendly individual and I never like to see anyone with their head down. I do not partake in too many other activities after school and I will make sure that Class Council is my number one priority. I believe my personality, dedication, and concern for others highly qualifies me for this position.

Secretary

Jacqueline Giz: Hello Class of 2020. I am Jacqueline Giz and I am seeking the position of Sophomore Class Secretary. If you elect me, I will devote as much time possible to making next year the best it can possibly be! A vote for me is a vote for a Sophmore year that is a 20 out of 20!

Junior Class Council Candidates

President

Kamiya Patel: Hello! My name is Kamiya Patel, I am currently a sophomore, and I am running for Junior Class President. Being president this past year was an incredible journey. I gained insight on not only what it takes to be an officer, but an active leader. As I started my presidency, my top two priorities were to increase our fundraising abilities and give each person in the class a voice. With clothing sales, Panera food nights, and our extremely successful Semi-Formal, our class funds have augmented immensely. More importantly, my time in office allowed me the opportunity to reach out to EVERY individual in the class, making sure they are spoken for and represented.  I understand the initiative the class president must take in order to support the entire grade, and so I know that I am the best candidate to lead the Class of 2019 through another memorable year!

Brendan Vann: My name is Brendan Vann. I am currently a sophomore who is running for Junior Class President. I pride myself on effort and hard work, two traits that I apply to all aspects of my life. I am an honors student who works tirelessly to earn the grades I get. I am a full year soccer player who is also the founder of the Cleatz4Kidz foundation, an organization that collects used soccer equipment and donates it to kids in need. I am a leader on the field, in the community, and in the classroom, and I know I can bring this leadership to the position of president. I chose to run for office because I want to give every member of the class of 2019 a voice. I truly believe I can do great things for my class and for all of FLHS.

Vice President

Sabrina Leibowitz: Sabrina Leibowitz is a Sophomore who is very excited about running for the important role of Junior Class Council Vice President. Sabrina’s main goal for the coming year is to create special events that are designed to help her class prepare for college. She is determined to arrange several class trips and other activities next year that will allow her peers to discover new things to spark their interests, as well as offering new resources to help prepare for the SATs and other college exams. Sabrina is also going to work very hard to make the class of 2019’s Junior year the best it can be by getting everyone involved. For instance, making short surveys that students can access on their phones, and taking exciting field trips that will spark all of the student’s interests. The class of 2019’s Junior year should be something that is exciting and is preparing us for our futures, not stressful and overwhelming. Overall Sabrina hopes to be Class Council Vice President next year to have the opportunity to work with her classmates allowing everyone to have a memorable and enlightening year by preparing everyone to not only have a plan for their future but to be excited for it as well.

John McParland: Hello, my name is John McParland and I am campaigning for the Vice Presidency for the class of 2019. I have spent the past two years serving this class in this position and together we have accomplished great things. Thousands of dollars were raised for our class through a plethora of fund raisers including a large sale of sweat pants, t- shirts and sweat shirts along with Panera nights, and bake sales. These helped fund one of the largest freshman class trips Fair Lawn High School has witnessed along with the most attended sophomore semi-formal in years. For the upcoming school year, I will help lead our class to even more success than it was bestowed in these past two years. I will appreciate your help in electing me for this position so we can accomplish even more.

Secretary

Will Mockel: Hello, Class of 2019, I am Will Mockel, and I am running for the position of Secretary of Junior Class Council. For the past two years I have been an active member of the Class Council, and this year I am running for the position of Secretary, as to get more deeply involved. The position of Secretary appeals to me due to the organizational responsibilities that the Secretary holds. I will make a great fit for the position, as I am a very organized individual, and will always be fully dedicated to my responsibilities. As a result of this, I hope you will consider me for your vote for Junior Class Council Secretary!

Natalie Rodriguez: My name is Natalie Rodriguez and I have had the great honor of being the Class of 2019's Secretary for Freshman and Sophomore year and this year I am running for the Junior class Secretary. I think I am suited for the position due to my previous years of experience and that for Junior year the events that will be held such as Junior Prom I believe I can heavily contribute to with many ideas. My dedication to the Class Council and the Class of 2019 has not once wavered. I hope to be the Class of 2019's Secretary once more. Thank you.

Treasurer

Stephanie Amirov: Hello, my name is Stephanie Amirov and I am running to become the Junior Class Council Treasurer. I fully understand the expectations of this position in office and know that I am capable of withholding it. By taking on this role, I will keep track of all funds and make sure our class is on the right path financially. Money can be raised by planning exciting events for the upcoming year that the whole grade could participate in, like fundraisers at our favorite food destinations, bake sales, and outdoor activities. Listening to what students have to say is another priority of mine because without your feedback our class would not be able to excel and become the best we can possible be. I will work beside my fellow officers and make sure your voices are heard. I will be honored to become the Treasurer of our Junior Class next year.

Kristine Saliasi: Hello, my name is Kristine Saliasi, and I am currently a Sophomore. For the past two years, I have been a dedicated member of class council, and it has inspired me to run for a position as Junior Class Treasurer. Seeing how happy the people in our grade are when we have activities such as Semi-Formal and end of year trips pushes me to run for this position. With this role as Treasurer, I can ensure we have the funds and budget to create even more fun and exciting memories as a grade. If you vote for Kristine as Junior Class Treasurer, I can guarantee that every event will not only be financed properly, but also that every event will use its budget to full potential, creating something extraordinary and magnificent. Vote for me, I’ll make sure that no voice in the entire class of 2019 will be left unheard.

Fletcher Cavanagh: My name is Fletcher Cavanagh and I'm currently a sophomore at Fair Lawn High School. I loved the experiences I gained from the sophomore class, and I am excited to relive them next year with the junior class council.

Linit Freydenson: Hello! My name is Linit Freydenson and I'm excited to be running for junior class publicist. Why am I running? I felt there was a lack of events for our grade. I love to take pictures and I'm pumped to capture the year's memories on camera and create a memorable record of all that we as a class have achieved together.

President

Sunzida Ahmed: Hello! My name is Sunzida Ahmed and I’m currently the President of the Class of 2018! For the past three years, I’ve become acquainted with and had the pleasure of getting to know this grade. We’ve had our ups and we surely have had our downs but most of all, we’ve come a long way since our freshman year. This coming election season, I will be running for Senior Class President. Although it’ll be my final year in office, it will be a year filled with productivity, efficiency, and drive. What I’ve learned in my years as president extends beyond a title; as our grade has matured and developed, my skills as a leader have adapted alongside it. Next year carries a great deal of responsibility; and I’m confident in saying that I, along with the rest of our grade, is prepared for whatever comes our way.

I hope to serve as a leader that can listen to the student body and represent them in council meetings to address any concerns or suggestions in order to benefit our class. I am prepared to face the task of class officer and hope that I don't just gain your vote, but your trust that I will be a positive asset to the class of 2018.

Leora Schwarcz: My name is Leora Schwarcz and I'm running to be the publicist of Senior Class Council. I am very passionate about making this grade the best it can be. There is so much to look forward to senior year and I want to make every experience first-class.

Student Government Candidates

President

Sunzida Ahmed: Hello! My name is Sunzida Ahmed and I’m currently the Vice President of Student Government. In the coming election, I will be running for SGA President. In the time I’ve spent involved in student government, I’ve had the unique opportunity of seeing this organization through different lenses. I’ve been a Class Council President, a CCA, an Executive Board Officer, but most importantly, I’ve been a member of the student body. I’ve had the pleasure to become acquainted with the needs of the people around me and have developed a keen understanding of the environment we’re in. In this next year, we have a mountain to climb and much to accomplish, it’s a daunting responsibility but one in which I’ve been preparing for since my first introduction to SGA. As President of Student Government, my one promise is to turn the potential we have into a definite reality.

Vice President

Lucia Mendoza: Hello! My name is Lucia Mendoza and I am currently a junior and a very proud member of the Class of 2018. I have served as Vice President of my class for the last two years. I have also been a member of the SGA Executive Committee, serving as the Athletics Committee CCA. I am ecstatic to announce that I will be running for Student Government Vice President for the 2017-18 school year. I want the last year of my high school career to be as fun, productive, and enjoyable as I can make it for our student body. There would be no greater pleasure than serving the students of FLHS to finish off my 4 years.

Secretary

Melissa Çelik: Being apart of SGA as the Co chair of the Education Committee this year was very exciting as It exposed me to new experiences and allowed me to enhance my perspectives on how change is truly made. As the year went on, I found myself feeling more and more comfortable while completing my duties at meetings. Although my Committee did not get as much as we wanted done this year, I definitely believe that we tried the best to our abilities to accomplish our goals thoughtfully and well organized. This is why I want to continue SGA and even increase my role on the board next year. I want to make sure that everyone can reach all of their goals with sufficiency because I've had experience of what it's like to be on the executive board. I want to be more involved in the executive board by helping them with their ideas, referrals and incentives. Gaining the title of Secretary, I would make sure to be well organized and help out at committee meetings as much as I can. I also believe that I have a lot of experience as I am the Secretary of two other clubs so I am well aware of the duties and characteristics that a secretary should obtain and carry out.

Raymond Jin: Hello! My name is Raymond Jin. I am in 10th grade and running for Student Government Secretary. Due to my experience and willingness to work hard for the school, I believe I am well qualified for this position. I have served in SGA for two years and dedicated many hours into helping the student body. I’m currently the CCA of the Activity Planning Committee, and I have served as a Class President and a Homeroom Representative. It has been an absolute honor serving everyone! My main goal is to give back to FLHS because Fair Lawn has afforded me many opportunities to strive and succeed. My initiative is to represent every class in FLHS! If elected Secretary, I will dedicate all my efforts towards bringing SGA together to accomplish our goals to benefit every student! With your help, we can make this happen! And remember, Jin for the Win!

Treasurer

Fay Feygin: My name is Fay Feygin, a current sophomore, and I am interested in running for the position of treasurer for the upcoming school year. Being a homeroom representative really opened my eyes up to the opportunities that Student Government holds, and I believe that assuming the treasurer position would not only benefit me by allowing me to work hand in hand with a great group of individuals, but it would also play a role in creating the best possible version of Fair Lawn High School. Money is truly one of the most crucial aspects of our learning institution, and managing the financial assets and liabilities of this body is a task that I am ecstatic to potentially take on.

Leora Schwarcz: My name is Leora Schwarcz and I'm running to be the treasure of Student Government. I'm going to be a senior next year and I'm very passionate about making this school the best it can be. This past year I was the CCA of club networking and I devoted my time to my position and other Student Government activities. I am committed to this organization and would like to see it thrive. I hope to make this a successful and productive school year.

Board of Education Representative

Joseph Pescatore: I am currently a Junior, and I am running for the position of Board of Education Representative in Student Government. Prior to my junior year, I never understood the mechanism by which student government operated under. Moreover, I was entirely blind to the power and importance behind this simple organization. However, during my junior year, I became the Chair of Club Networking where I helped promote and organize events such as Club Fair and Club Summits. During this time, I witnessed first-hand what the students involved in this small organization were capable of, and how my fellow peers could so easily influence and change nearly every aspect of this building. The pieces began to fit together, the passion began to form, and the drive began to build.  In the end, I realized this was not only about getting a new water fountain or creating a club fair, rather it is about helping the student body, and I believe that I am prepared to do that. This position grants an open door for students to speak directly to the Board of Education, who must approve any change before it happens. With this position, I will work to the fullest of my capabilities to ensure that I not only encompass the opinions of the student body, but also push to see each and every idea presented to me come to life.
