Course Selection for the 2018-2019 school year will be done entirely online. To register for courses, you must log onto the Parent Portal and following these instructions. For grade level specific instructions, please refer to the appropriate presentations below.

Contract for 8th Course Selection

You may be permitted to take an 8th class instead of lunch. Be advised that the class you select may not run during 5th or 6th period, but the course will replace your lunch option. You may elect to take the class either Pass/Fail or for a letter grade. Only one course may be selected as a Pass/Fail option. ONLY courses that are listed on the contract are eligible to replace lunch.

Graduation Requirements

 In order to receive your high school diploma in the state of New Jersey, you must complete a 120 credit program of study that includes mandatory core subjects like English, mathematics, science, social studies and world language. You must also complete three required elective courses. Each Full Year course is worth 5 credits, and each 1 semester course is worth 2.5 credits. The following are the set number of credits per subject area needed to graduate:

  • Language Arts Literacy (English): 20 credits
  • Mathematics: 15 credits
  • Social Studies: 15 credits
    • 5 credits of World History
    • 10 credits of US History
  • Science: 15 credits (must include Biology)
  • World Language: 5 credits
  • Physical Education/Health: 5 credits per year
  • Personal Financial Literacy: 2.5 credits
  • Visual & Performing Arts: 5 credits
  • Career/Technical/Life Skills: 5 credits

In addition to these course requirements, every student must pass a state approved assessment in Language Arts Literacy and Mathematics before graduation. Approved assessments for the graduating classes of 2016-2019 include the PARCC, PSAT, SAT, ACT and Accuplacer.
