College Board Examinations (SATs) These examinations are administered in October, November, December, January, April, May and June. Registration materials may be obtained in the counseling office or online. Juniors may take the April, May or June examination: seniors should check the college catalogues for the SAT deadline required by a prospective school. Some colleges require the SAT II; check with your counselor. The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is given each fall to juniors who plan to take the regular examinations in the spring.
Basic Skills (HSPA) 1. Ninth graders who have not met the 8th grade GEPA required proficiency level are mandated to take a remedial program. 2. In order to be graduated from Fair Lawn High School , a student must successfully pass the New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment in all content areas required by the state. 3. Students who do not pass the test are considered deficient in the skill area and must be provided remediation in accordance with an Individual Student Improvement Plan in the area/areas of deficiency, i.e., reading, writing, and/or mathematics. 4. The student may take the High School Proficiency Assessment in the 11th year and each time it is offered after that. 5. The student who still has not shown minimum competency in the skills following the initial twelfth year testing must be given a comprehensive assessment of his/her skills proficiencies as part of the Special Review Assessment process. 6. Students who do not meet the minimum level proficiency by passing the High School Proficiency Assessment or through the Special Review Assessment process will not be graduated.
